This work takes its title from a verse by Veronica Shoffstall in After a While. Created a year after the 2020 lockdown, while new restrictions threatened to halt life once again, the embroidery and its box evoke rebirth after a long dormancy—an outburst of light and color. It is a hymn to spring, to the cycles of life that, after each closure, return renewed and unbroken.
The embroidered flower bursts open like a firework, while on the box a winged figure announces resurrection with the sound of its rattle. At the base, industrious insects clear away the past, making room for what is yet to come.
